Slap them!
Australian interpretation of laws (they only apply to other people as no prosecution is feared) and a whale's reaction. It used to be illegal to approach whales and there were minimum distances to maintain. Both boats approached the whales and deliberately put themselves into their paths and actually cornered them. The whale got visibly angry and slapped its tail next to the boats a few times.
